Pony riding in Gechingen - Reit- & Ponyhof Berghof

About 25 minutes by car from Schellbronn, in Gechingen on the edge of the Northern Black Forest, you will find Reit- & Ponyhof Berghof - a family-run farm with around seven ponies of different sizes. The highlight for families with younger children is guided pony riding: ponies are saddled, the child sits on, and an adult companion leads the pony through woods and meadows. No riding lessons required - just a bit of courage, sturdy shoes, and patience.

You can usually come during opening hours without pre-booking. Trail rides on the Norwegian horse Rocco, however, require phone reservation. Pony riding is limited to max 45 kg and up to 150 cm height; taller children can usually join rides from around age eight and 140 cm (max 80 kg). Bringing a bike helmet is recommended; flip-flops and short trousers are not allowed for insurance reasons. Guiding adults must be at least 18 years old.

The farm is at Berghof 1, 75391 Gechingen - between Calw and Pforzheim, slightly outside the Enzkreis villages but still easy to reach for a half-day family outing. On request there are also a barbecue area, trampoline and tent options; dogs are welcome on a leash. Easy to combine with Wildpark Pforzheim or a forest walk - nature first, no action-park setting.
